Laboratory Centrifuge Repair Issues

Mishaps in the laboratory are legion. Granted, some of these tales are pure fantasy, but many of them are one hundred percent bizarrely true. There is a classic case of a laboratory centrifuge explosion that did an incredible amount of damage to a University lab in 1998. The centrifuge blew up seemingly without warning and literally exploded into several pieces. Considering that the laboratory centrifuge is made out of metal, the scrapes that were sent flying from it were almost like large pieces of shrapnel. The centrifuge exploded not very much unlike a cluster bomb going off in the basement of a science building.

Why did it happen? What kind of pressure was the centrifuge under that caused the laboratory centrifuge to explode in the manner that it did and with the force that it exploded. Believe it or not, it exploded because an incorrect rotor was installed. Apparently, someone did not realize that taking a rotor from one type of laboratory centrifuge and moving to another brand probably would not be a wise idea.

When it comes to centrifuge repairs, it is always best to leave the repairs to an expert. Trying to figure out laboratory centrifuge repair shortcuts is not going to end up saving money in the centrifuge explodes. Also, this is to say nothing of the dangers to life and limb that may occur if the centrifuge explodes like the aforementioned University centrifuge did.

Does this mean that it is not advisable to repair a laboratory centrifuge? Of course it is advisable to repair the centrifuge if a repair is a feasible option. It is just advisable to have an expert do the repairs so as not to end up with a calamity like the rotor mishap that lead to an explosion. Don’t let things like this happen. Stick with those repairmen who are experienced and things should end up fine.
